UK Hub for Quantum Enabled Position, Navigation & Timing

Researchers from throughout the country working within the QEPNT Hub came together on the 8th of September for a day of discussion, research updates and networking.

Hub members were given a warm welcome by our Cambridge team and treated to a facilities tour of the Ray Dolby Centre, the state-of-the-art new home of the Cavendish Department of Physics at the University of Cambridge.

The audience were delivered updates from the Hub's research areas of Timing, Inertial Sensors, Ranging and Hybrid Systems and discussions focused on the progress being made to develop robust systems, offering superior stability and precision to current navigation and timing technologies.

Amber Carrek, a researcher from Royal Holloway gave an overview from Pride in Quantum, a new network for LGBTQ+ researchers and allies in the UK quantum sector, aiming to promote diversity and foster a sense of community among those working in quantum technology.

Ramsey Faragher, Director of the Royal Institute of Navigation delivered a talk on the progress of innovation within position, navigation and timing and the role quantum plays for next-generation PNT.

The University of Cambridge has several researchers working within the UK Quantum Hubs and it was a great opportunity to learn about the work of the Integrated Quantum Networks (IQN) Hub from Dr Dorian Gangloff and Q-BioMed from Jack Hart.

We realise getting our teams together is a great way of learning about the progress being made on each of the research areas and how collaboration is contributing to the overall ambitions of the QEPNT Hub.

We’re looking forward to growing and supporting the Hub’s community of researchers at future events.
