About this event

As the new Parliament takes shape and MSPs begin to set their priorities, this event will bring together leading experts for a forward-looking discussion on the key policy challenges facing Scotland in the years ahead.

In a context of tightening fiscal constraints, rapid technological change, and persistent socioeconomic pressures, policymakers are navigating an increasingly complex environment - where straightforward solutions are in short supply.

This panel will explore where the biggest risks and opportunities lie, and how decision-makers might respond to a set of deeply interconnected challenges spanning governance, the economy, inequality, and technological change.

Speakers and Chair

  • Chair: David McGill, Chief Executive of the Scottish Parliament
  • Professor Nicola McEwen, Director, University of Glasgow Centre for Public Policy
  • Professor Graeme Roy, University of Glasgow & Chair, Scottish Fiscal Commission
  • Professor Bridgette Wessels, Professor in the Sociology of Inequalities (technology focus)
  • Professor Morag Treanor, Professor of Social Policy and Inequality

Join us for what promises to be a timely and thought-provoking discussion on Scotland’s policy future.
